Sentimental EMERALD AND
DIAMOND WEDDING RING
This is a wedding ring commissioned by a customer who wanted a wide, platinum wedding ring with a vintage look. Using some of her parents’ wedding jewellery to create the gold inner-lining of the band gives this ring a unique aesthetic and a beautiful sentimentality.
The band itself is platinum but is lined with gold, which was melted down from her father’s wedding ring. This is a very sentimental and important part of the design and I love creating pieces like this for customers that incorporate jewellery from loved ones, so that they can always wear them close. Some of the gold and one of the larger diamonds used, were also repurposed from her mother’s engagement ring, while the stunning green emerald was chosen as it’s her birthstone.
I incorporated some millgrain beading along the intersections of the settings in order to achieve this classical look that she wanted. Including important sentimental elements while still maintaining the customer’s aesthetic wishes for the design can be challenging, so I am proud of how this piece came out.
