Whether you are looking to customise one of our existing designs, repurpose an heirloom piece, or create something completely new that is tailored to your vision – you will be involved every step of the way.
With Jesper Velling Jewellery, you can be assured of a fully personalised service, where you will be guided by Jesper’s expertise to ensure your vision aligns with structural perfection.
You can explore a selection of materials and specifically curated gemstones, learning about the unique personality of each stone, its origin, and how different settings will bring your design to life.
STEP 1
GET IN TOUCH!
The first step in your commission journey is to GET IN TOUCH to let us know that you are interested and to get the ball rolling. We have made it easy for you to BOOK A CONSULTATION, so either follow the link or click the pop-up in the bottom right-hand corner to find a time slot that works for you. You are also more than welcome to give us a call or send us an email if you are unsure about anything, or have questions you would like answered before you book a meeting with us.
Then it is time to start designing! You will be booked in for an appointment at our rural Kent workshop for a initial consultation over a tea or coffee (or for a Zoom call from the comfort of your own home). It is good to have a think about the elements you would like to incorporate into your commision at this stage, so we have made a list of a few questions to think about before you come, HERE.
STEP 1

The first step in your commission journey is to GET IN TOUCH to let us know that you are interested and to get the ball rolling. Then it is time to start designing! You will be booked in for an appointment at our rural Kent workshop for a initial consultation over a tea or coffee (or for a Zoom call from the comfort of your own home). It is good to have a think about the elements you would like to incorporate into your commision at this stage, so we have made a list of a few questions to think about before you come, HERE.
STEP 2
INITIAL CONSULTATION
During this initial meeting, we will be discussing and conceptualising the design with the help of sketches to bring your ideas to life. If you are considering any stones for your piece, this is also where you will get the chance to choose from a selection of curated stones, especially for you. You can see the fiery brilliance of ethically sourced diamonds, the deep oceans within sapphires, or the vivid green of emeralds. You get to hold them, watch how they catch the light, and choose the exact gem that speaks to you.
If you cannot meet in person, do not worry! Consultations can be easily be done via Zoom or over the phone – we have experience doing this with clients as far as New Zealand and Colorado! – although we always love getting to meet our clients in person.
Once you are completely happy with your design, this is the stage where we take a 10% deposit to begin the process of bringing the design to life – the remaining balance is only due when you are completely satisfied with the finished product.

CREATING YOUR DESIGN
At this stage of the project, we understand that you may feel as though there is not much you can do other than simply trust us. However, we want to assure you that we value your input and want to make this piece as special and personalised as possible.
Communication is key, and we believe that involving you in the project’s development can really make a difference in the final outcome. So please do not hesitate to ask for progress updates or to voice your thoughts and ideas as we progress. We are committed to making sure that you enjoy the process from start to finish.

CREATING YOUR DESIGN
At this stage of the project, we understand that you may feel as though there is not much you can do other than simply trust us. However, we want to assure you that we value your input and want to make this piece as special and personalised as possible.
Communication is key, and we believe that involving you in the project’s development and minor design adjustments can really make a difference in the final outcome. So please do not hesitate to ask for progress updates or to voice your thoughts and ideas throughout the process! We are committed to making sure that this piece is something that you can truly love and cherish.

STEP 4
ALL FINSIHED!
Once your bespoke piece of jewellery is ready for collection, we can arrange for you to come and collect it from our workshop, where it will be waiting in an elegant Jesper Velling Jewellery box and bag. We also include a free valuation for insurance purposes so you can be assured of the right cover for your bespoke piece. Can’t make it to us? We can have your jewellery delivered straight to you, no matter where you are in the world.

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT BEFORE YOUR CONSULTATION:
This is probably the most important question to consider as we want to create a piece that you are completely in love with, but which also falls within your financial expectations. Being completely transparent with us about how much you are willing to spend during the consultation means that we can give you the best advice to suit your budget when designing.
Especially if you are commissioning a ring, it is important to know what size you need. We offer a free ring-sizing service at any appointment!
If you have any old rings that you no longer wear, or perhaps have inherited some heirloom jewellery that you would like to repurpose, we can take the materials from it to make something new for you!
A commission is obviously a very personal thing, it is completely unique to you (or whoever you are buying it for), so we love to hear the special reasons behind them. We will try to include as much symbolism you want in the design so it is as meaningful as you had hoped.
Our services offer pieces made from platinum, gold, white gold or occasionally silver.

We can also obtain a selection for the consultation so you can pick out the one you like most. You also have the choice between natural or lab-grown diamonds.
The commission process as a whole generally takes about 6-8 weeks, however if you need a piece finished by a specific date please let us know so we can do our best to accommodate to this.
