The pen itself is made of ebony and silver, which was turned and shaped on the lathe into the cylindrical components that make up the body and lid. 24ct gold was used to create the shield shape that is inlaid in the ebony, which was then engraved with the customer’s family crest under an incredibly strong microscope- this matches a signet ring that he commissioned from us a while back! The pen was then precisely micro-set with 4 bands of small diamonds, one on the top and bottom of both the body and lid, which totalled over 100 stones! Finally, we set 3 beautiful blue sapphires into the piece: in the middle, on the top of the lid, and on the base. It also has easily interchangeable fountain pen or ballpoint nibs to suit the user’s preference.
