This was a highly personalised commission which incorporated stones and metal from a collection of family jewellery. The customer came with a rough idea of the style of ring that she was hoping to have made, and which of the most sentimental pieces she wanted to be incorporated into the design.
In order to begin designing I had to separate the large amount of existing pieces into loose stones and gold ingots, which enabled us to begin with a completely clean slate.
Included in the piece are two square-cut sapphires from her own engagement ring, gold from her wedding ring, and nine marquis-cut diamonds from her eternity ring. Also incorporated is a brilliant-cut diamond from a ring bought to celebrate the birth of her children, and five emeralds from her mother’s engagement ring.
The starting point of this botanical-themed design was using the emeralds to represent the petals of a flower, and the nine marquis-cut diamonds to represent leaves; while fine gold wire was used to create delicate stems that connect the stones.
Due to the sheer amount of materials left over after completing this piece, we had a lot of fun designing a set of ten stacking rings- which you can see HERE.
If this commission has inspired you with ideas of your own -whether it be something similar to this or something entirely different- please do not hesitate, get in touch today!
