THE PEARL CHOKER
This stunning choker was commissioned as a statement wedding piece by a customer who got in touch all the way from Norway! She had seen an antique choker featuring a ‘tree of life’ design and knew it would make the perfect accessory for her big day.
The whole piece was meticulously handmade from start to finish- having carved the tree myself from a single sheet of 9ct yellow gold, which is highlighted by 9 small white pearls. The surrounding frame features bright-cut engraving on every leaf, with complementary leaf-patterned bars on either side of the adjustable clasp (chosen to give more flexibility to the wearer) at the back of the piece. There are eight strands of freshwater pearls bilaterally connecting the centerpiece to the clasp at the back.
Due to this customer living in Norway, the entire design process was completed via emails and phone calls- something which is absolutely no issue if you are thinking of commissioning a piece of your own, but for whatever reason would not be available for in-person consultations. This particular customer had not even seen the finished piece until she flew to England to collect it, entrusting my skill as a craftsman.
